Access to IRAM France

From Paris – Gare de Lyon railway station

  • From Monday to Friday, there are high-speed trains called TGV (Train Grande Vitesse)
    • every 2-1 hours roughly, from 6:40am to 7:40pm.
    • Check with your travel agency for exact time.
    • Less frequent for weekends and holidays.
  • The journey lasts 3H and costs
    • between 61 euros and 77 euros for 2nd class tickets
    • 100  euros for 1st class tickets (+ reservation, roughly 5 euros).

To Paris – Gare de Lyon railway station

  • From Monday to Friday there are 3-4 TGV’s per day from 5:37am to 7:16pm.
  • There are more TGV between Paris and Lyon and the journey lasts only 2 hours but normal trains between Grenoble and Lyon take 2 hours.
  • In all cases, check with a travel agency or at a railway station.
  • On TGV you must have a reservation !

 

From Lyon Saint-Exupery airport to Grenoble

There are shuttle buses going from Lyon Saint-Exupery to Grenoble (and vice versa).

  • The journey lasts about 1:05H
  • Return ticket price : 33 euros.
  • Take the bus at the arrival level.
  • 
The tickets may be bought at the arrival level or in the bus.
  • There are buses
    • from 7:30am to 9:45pm every hour or less, during the week from Monday to Friday.
    • Less frequent for weekends and holidays.

  • The final stop is the Grenoble bus station close to the railway and tram station.

 

Grenoble to Saint-Exupery

  • Take the bus at the Grenoble bus station close to the railway and tram station.
  • Tickets should be bought in the bus station terminal.
    • There are buses from 5:00am to 7:00pm every hour or less during the week from Monday to Friday,
    • Less frequent for weekends and holidays.
    • Please refer to the website of the bus company for details.
  • The final stop is at the airport departure level.

From Geneva Cointrin airport

  • There is a direct service with mini-buses between the Geneva airport and Grenoble (railway station).
  • Contact a travel agency for their schedules and price (around 30 euros).
    Another cheaper solution is to travel by train between Geneva and Grenoble.

    • Take a train from the airport to Geneva Cornavin central station (about very 15 minutes) where you can find a train to Grenoble.
    • However it is a long journey (2h) and the frequency of the trains is low (4 per day).

From the Grenoble railway station

  • Use tram line B from the railway station to the campus of St Martin d’Hères.
  • Tickets should be bought from a dispenser and stamped before entering the tram.
  • Get off at Les Taillées (after having crossed first the highway, then the river Isère).
  • Approximate duration : 20 minutes.
  • There are trams about every 10′ (6′ in peak hours).
  • Walk to IRAM at 300 Rue de la Piscine. Download a map of the city center

On the campus

  • Walk along the street Rue de la Piscine to go to IRAM (number 300).
  • It is only a 5′ walk from the tram stop Les Taillées, direction north/east.
