IRAM has established an ALMA user support center, which forms a node of the European ALMA Regional Center (ARC). The IRAM ARC node is open to all interested scientists, with an emphasis on the IRAM community (France, Germany, and Spain).
The role of the ARC node is to provide direct user support, including training and schools, assistance in the preparation for observing proposals and setups, and data processing.

∗ ALMA Publication Statistics (2012-2024)
Recent publication by ALMA ARC scientists presents a statistical study of 4190 refereed ALMA publications across various aspects (science categories, geographical distribution, archival research, time to publication, publication fraction, and citations) in the period from 2012 to 2024.
The studied publications have received 169,985 citations and are based on 2670 ALMA projects totalling 19,265 hours of 12 m-array-equivalent observing time. Their evolution follows that of other high-impact observatories such as HST and VLT. In 2024, the impact factor for ALMA publications, defined as the total number of citations received in a given year arising from publications of the previous two years, is larger than that of all other major astronomical facilities.
The figure below shows that around 5% of all publications every year come from the French scientific community.

ALMA received a record-high number of proposals in Cycle 13!
Total of 1843 proposals, of which 48 were large programs and 91 were joint proposals.

IRAM operates the NOEMA interferometer and the 30-meter telescope, develops the GILDAS software tools and was involved in the construction of ALMA. The IRAM ARC node shares the existing user support facilities with the NOEMA interferometer and benefits from the in-house expertise in millimeter interferometry.
