- Heterodyne instrumentation: EMIR Online Time Estimator
The equations used in this estimator are fully documented in IRAM memo 2009-1.
The observer provides general parameters of the planned observations, in order to estimate the total observing time, excluding time needed to tune the heterodyne receivers. For the heterodyne receivers and mapping observations, the noise estimate is done per beam, and not per observed grid position, as had been done with the previous estimator.
