The 11th 30-meter school took place October 31 – November 7, 2025 at Hotel Turia in Granada and at the 30-meter telescope.
As in previous editions, the school combined lectures on millimetre astronomy with observations using the 30-meter telescope. Lectures were be given by experienced scientists and 30-meter observers, covering a wide range of topics, from comets and planetary atmospheres in the solar system to the study of the chemistry of interstellar clouds, low and high mass star formation, in the Milky Way, in nearby galaxies, and in ultra-luminous objects at high-redshifts. These lectures were complemented by lectures on instrumentation, observing techniques, and data processing.
In addition, the students, lecturers and technical assistants formed small groups, worked on one topic, prepared a science case, conducted the observations with the 30-meter telescope, reduced the data, and presented first results on the last day of the school.
The school ran over one week from Friday to Friday, with six days of about 4 hours of lectures per day, leaving ample time for the observations and for the group work. Both Fridays were arrival and departure days (the final session on Friday morning was devoted to work group presentations). The venue was at Hotel Turia Granada (Av. Constitución 21, 18014 Granada) where lectures, lodging and meals were given. Observations were carried out on-site at the 30-meter telescope (transports was arranged every day).
The school aimed at attracting new scientists to current and future single-dish millimetre and sub-millimetre facilities. The school was primarily meant for researchers with little previous experience in mm-astronomy. It was limited to about 40 students; in case of oversubscription, participants were selected based on their career level, astronomy interests and observational experience, also striving to achieve a good balance in gender and origin.
Registration closed on August 15th.
